So, who am I?

I am Jeremy Herrera and come from a small town in California called Tehachapi. The town when I grew up was a farm and ranch town with a single flashing red light as our only traffic signal. It was a relatively conservative town where everyone knew each other. Kind of sucked as a kid because if you did something wrong, mom and dad knew about it before you got home.

Right after I graduated from high school I entered into the US Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. I spent a total of 8 years there and obtained the rank of HM3, or otherwise known as E-4. I was stationed in both hospital settings and with the US Marines. I served right between both wars, Desert Storm and Operation Freedom. I was out of the service for less than 4 months when 911 happened. While I was not in the service any longer, I still worked with the DOD via The Boeing Company as a computer technician on Edwards AFB and later on China Lake NAWS. I then went on to work for another DOD contractor, Northrop Grumman doing the same type of work.

After many years of working in the aerospace sector and living in California, I moved on to Lovell, WY. I am still in the computer technician line of work at Big Horn Federal Savings Bank. Not to get into it too deep on the About page, but I felt I had to leave my home state and its overtaxed, over-regulated government. I will post about that in the blog, so I won’t go into it more here.

I am married to my beautiful wife Kristina with a total of 5 kids. Two from my previous marriage and two more beautiful stepdaughters and 1 handsome stepson.

What is this blog about?

The blog is going to be about a number of things. However, it will be a place where I will talk about my faith and how it has shaped me. In that shaping, it means I will also talk about various issues that are near and dear to me. For starters, I will post how the Lord has used my troubles, heartaches, and worries to mold me and shape me into a happy and loving Christian. As such I will cover topics where I feel the US and the world are sliding down a horrible path. I will of course cover some things that I see the Lord doing in the world also. So, yes I will cover Faith, Prayer, Politics, Government, News, and sometimes personal matters.

It will also be a place where I will post short stories and poems that I write. These things are what I believe God ultimately gave me as gifts. It has only taken me 47 years to truly admit that.

Speaking of Prayer, I will include a section in the future where you can send me prayer requests. Not sure how it will work out, but I am a strong believer in prayer and will post my own prayers and examples of answered prayers too.

In the end, I hope that this blog will become a place where I can share the love of God and glorify Him.
